More than 53 million passengers traveled through SFO last year. While the number of passengers continues to grow, the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions associated with the Airport’s operations are in steady decline due to a number SFO’s innovative green initiatives. Spearheading their endeavor was Climate Passport, a first in the world program that let travelers offset the impact of their air travel through an interactive kiosk. The innovative kiosk brought awareness to the issue and gave people the opportunity to calculate the environmental impact of their flights and purchase carbon offsets to address that impact while at the airport.
